Here are some hints in case you want to avoid being tracked by Google Analytics:

  • Add the line "127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com" to the hosts file on your computer. This prevents your web browser from downloading the JavaScript file that is required by Google Analytics to track web usage.

    • Windows XP: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
  • Use a browser extension such as CustomizeGoogle or NoScript which can prevent tracking by Google Analytics.
  • Use an anonymizer proxy such as TOR/Privoxy to browse the web more anonymously.
